He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Downey and Betty Wolf (Stamm); his stepparents, Arnie Wolf and Joyce Downey; and his siblings, Larry Downey and Karen Williams.

He is survived by: his brother David Downey (Emma); his nieces and nephews, Chris Downey (Lisa) of Luckey, Chas Williams IIII (Ashley), Zach Williams (Alexis) of Findlay, James Downey (Erica), Jennifer Steyn (Harry) of Bowling Green, Courtney Eckel (Nolan) of Perrysburg and Jessica Downey; and his siblings-in-law, Beth Downey of Pemberville and Chas Williams III of Pemberville.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Wood County Humane Society.
