He was predeceased by: his parents, Franklin Luther and Margaret Ruth Ryan (Devore); his brothers, Sammy and Frankie Ryan; his stepson Jeffrey Craig Gieseck; and his nephew Ronnie Sprague.

He is survived by: his wife June "Peggy" Ryan (Remley); his son Richard Ryan; his stepchildren, Susan Gray (Mike), Keith Gieseck (Teresa) and Don Hess; his sisters, Elva Joreen Hyatt, Frances Laura Garno and Gladys Margaret Sprague (Ron); and his siblings-in-law, Richard Russell Remley and Shirlie Cannon. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
