He was predeceased by : his parents, Herbert Penick and Katherine Penick (McDowell); and his siblings, Henry and Virginia. He is survived by : his wife Sue; his daughters, Amanda Griffith (Jon) and Sarah Hawk (Dan); his granddaughters, Lindsey and Lauren; and his sister Vivian. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
