He was predeceased by: his mothers, Lavina (Rinear) and Mary Hess (Amis); his siblings, Frank Jr. and Shirley; and his stepbrother Chester Bowling.
He is survived by: his wife Deborah Hess (Perkins); his siblings, Morgan Hess (Linda) and Susan Burgess (Bruce); his stepbrother Andrew Bowling (Donna); his sons, John Hess Jr. (Kristi) and Kevin Hess (Dianna); his grandchildren, Heather Jackson (Connor), Johnny Hess (Kelly) and Danielle Miller (Nate); and his great grandchildren, Cameron, Ava, Bo, Chevelle, Jett and Jase.
