He was predeceased by: his parents, William Clyde, Jr. and Ramona Dare Ambrose Spruill; and his son Samuel Joseph Spruill. He is survived by: his wife Carla Dail Spruill; his children, Caroline S. Cross (Daniel) of Blacksburg, VA, Julia S. McNear (Daniel) of Lebanon, OH and Jeffrey Spruill (Andrea) of Hillsboro, OH; his siblings, William Clyde "Billy" Spruill III (Cindy) of Creswell and Barbara Grissom Spring of Carthage; and his grandchildren, Elijah, Ezekiel, Josiah Spruill, Abigail McNear and Kenneth Daniel McNear.
