He is survived by: his children, Ana Lizeth Godwin, Victor Manuel Mendizabal (Veronica), Irma Yolanda Ramirez (Alfonso), Ruben Abilio Mendizabal (Luz), Herbert Mendizabal (Gloria Karina), Jose Leopoldo "Polo" Mendizabal (Monica) and Luis Ernesto Mendizabal; and his sisters, Marina Mendizabal (Jose) of Estupinan and Carmen Mendizabal Garoz (Jorge).
