He was predeceased by: his mother Bertha Shazer; and his siblings, Carmen "Junior" Renzi, Stephen Thorpe and Mildred Silbaugh. He is survived by: his wife Christine Thorpe; his sons, Zacherias Thorpe (Cheryl) and Jacob Thorpe; his granddaughters, Liberty and Emma Thorpe; his siblings, Annabelle Carroll and Homer Tharpe; and his niece Samantha Delpercio (Rick).
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 15th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Newcomer Funeral Home (4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, OH 43614). A celebration of life will be held on Friday, December 19th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Brandywine Country Club (6904 Salisbury Rd, Maumee, OH 43537).
Bert was skilled at winning at the "mechanical claw" at the grocery stores, upon winning would donate the items to charity.
