He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. James A. Welch and Stella Crump Welch; his son Newlyn Shawn Welch; and his brothers, James (Robert), Charles, Paul and Andra Welch.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra Crenshaw Welch; his son Brandon L. Welch; his siblings, David Welch, Gloria Hightower of Youngstown and Lurell Moyer of Youngstown; his goddaughter Rose Howze (Anthony); and his close friend Carlson Wilkerson. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; three great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 20th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Phillips Chapel Church of God in Christ (3903 Jacobs Rd SE, Hubbard, OH 44425). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 20th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
