He was predeceased by: his parents, Helen Plate and Howard Neville Plate; his son David Gregory "Greg"; and his sisters, Alice Sealy and Marilyn Louise "Marylou" Pickering.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Ann Plate (Werren); his daughter Dr. Deborah (Jim); and his grandchildren, Dr. Ethan Vargo (Lauren Georgalas), Emma Allen (Rett), Ashleigh Grant (Reynolds), Logan Plate (Ashley), Bryce Plate (Lauren) and Jordan Plate (Tyler Oquendo).
