He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, James Lawton and Naomi Lawton; his wife Wanda Joyce Lawton; and his children, Gregory Lawton (Melissa), Brian Lawton (Miriam), Gary Lawton (Jennifer), Laurie Mong (Chris) and Andrew Lawton (Christine). He was also cherished by 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
