He was predeceased by : his parents, James Cooper and Dora Cooper (Cochran); his wife Dora McCoy; his daughter Diana Cooper; his grandson Cameron Bateman; and his siblings, Ruth Watts, James Cooper, Cora Sue Cooper, Edward "Elwood" Cooper, Anna Mae Cooper, Evermont Cooper and Tawana Hunley.

He is survived by : his sons, Roger Cooper, Jr. (June) of Iberia and James Cooper of Iberia; his grandchildren, Joycieanna Cooper and Roger Cooper III; his great grandchild Lillianna Skie Marlow; and his siblings, Iva Jean Skiles, Jack Cochran, Betty Jo Mansfield, Jerry Cochran and Debbie Watson.
