He was predeceased by: his father Howard C. Thornton; and his siblings, Howard L. Thornton, Ray Thornton and Gidget Gallion. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Kay Thornton (Lewis); his children, Hollie Thornton Mitchell (Kevin) of Grayson, KY, Rick McKnight (Selena) of Ironton, OH and Brian McKnight (Bertha) of Ironton, OH; his siblings, Jack Thornton (Ruth), Marlean Thornton Barr (Herb) of Worthington, KY and Melinda Johnson; and his close friend Joe Barker of Ironton, OH. He is also survived by six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
