He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Adkins and Elsie Martin Adkins; and his siblings, Jim Adkins, Charles "Bub" Adkins, Jerri Daughtery and Norma Jean Rosenkratz.

He is survived by: his wife Dianne Hawkins Adkins; his children, Missy Johnson (David) of Ashland, Susan Arnett (Jay) of Ashland and David Burton of Ashland; his brother Doug Adkins (Laura) of Ashland; his grandchildren, Tanner Conley, Megan Conley, Sami Arnett, Emma Johnson and Alden Johnson; and his great grandchild Murphy Conley.
