It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Ellsworth Richards Jr. of Jackson, Ohio, who passed away on July 22, 2025, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Sr. Richards and Joan Richards; his former wife Carol Jean Johnson Richards; his son Braden Richards; his stepson Michael Dill; and his siblings-in-law, Don Scarlett, Myron Hutcheson, Wilma Hagely and Fay Richards.
He is survived by: his wife Alice Dill Richards; his siblings, Sherry Scarlett (Don) and Lonnie Richards; his children, Brian Richards, Brent Richards (Mary Beth) and Brenda Freiheit (Alan); his daughter-in-law Beth Leach (Chuck); his grandchildren, Bailey Lang (Seth), Breeann Benn (Patrick), Braden Richards Jr., Zach, Zane, Quinn Richards and Sophia Freiheit; his stepson Kevin Dill (Marilyn); and his stepdaughter-in-law Zoe Ann Dill. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson (28 Harding Ave, Jackson, OH 45640). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 30th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Wednesday, July 30th 2025 at the Fairmount Cemetery (12 Fairmount St, Jackson, OH 45640).
