He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde I. Lanning and Sybil L. Denney Lanning; and his brother Gary Lanning. He is survived by: his wife Edith M. Mosier Lanning; his children, Merrill Lanning, Jr. (Dawn), Tammy Lanning Woods (Jennifer), Eric Lanning (Sandy) and Tracy Lanning (Michelle); his grandchildren, Angel Ware (Bob), Jill Bapst (Kevin), Robert Woods (Lactricta), Kristen Crabtree (Matt), Travis Lanning, Olivia Lanning, Mason Lanning, Cody Lanning, Kaitlyn, Kory and Dalton Kight; his great grandchildren, Adrian, Valerie, Dan Oneill, Brycen Crabtree, Aiden Lanning, Annabelle and Rhiannon Woods; his siblings, Clinton Lanning (Connie) and Dee Gilkey (Frank); and his close friend Sophie. He is also survived by 3 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and his loving pet.
