With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Merrill Lanning Sr. of Jackson, Ohio, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 18, 2024 at the age of 83. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Clyde I. Lanning and Sybil L. Denney Lanning; and his brother Gary Lanning. He is survived by : his wife Edith M. Mosier Lanning; his children, Merrill Lanning, Jr. (Dawn), Tammy Lanning Woods (Jennifer), Eric Lanning (Sandy) and Tracy Lanning (Michelle); his grandchildren, Angel Ware (Bob), Jill Bapst (Kevin), Robert Woods (Lactricta), Kristen Crabtree (Matt), Travis Lanning, Olivia Lanning, Mason Lanning, Cody Lanning, Kaitlyn, Kory and Dalton Kight; his great grandchildren, Adrian, Valerie, Dan Oneill, Brycen Crabtree, Aiden Lanning, Annabelle and Rhiannon Woods; his siblings, Clinton Lanning (Connie) and Dee Gilkey (Frank); and his close friend Sophie. He is also survived by 3 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and his loving pet.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 22nd 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the McWilliams Funeral Home (125 E 1st St, Wellston, OH 45692). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 23rd 2024 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, April 23rd 2024 at the Pattonsville Cemetery.
