He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Hughes and Louise Hughes; his wife Bari; his son Phillip Hughes; his siblings, Billy D. Hughes and Letha G. Leedy; his sister-in-law Rosemary Hughes; and his stepson Jeremy Peoples.
He is survived by: his daughter Shawna Davis; his brother Jack Hughes; his stepdaughter Denita Rhea; and his grandchildren, JT Davis, Bret Davis, Christian Hughes, Kyla Burgess, Jordan Hughes, Devon Arledge, Maekayla Weber and Paige Sheets. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 21st 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home (135 Broadway St, Jackson, OH 45640). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church (35 Broadway St, Jackson, OH 45640).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jackson Food Pantry or the First Baptist Church youth ministry.
