He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Cotterman and Hazel Cotterman (McGee); and his brother Donald R. Cotterman. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy "Dottie" Cotterman (Smith); his daughter Elaine Cox (Sam); his granddaughter Cassie Reynolds (Nathan); his great grandchildren, Oakleigh, Boone, Daisy and Case; and his siblings, Jean Davis and Richard Cotterman. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family prefers that memorial contributions be directed to the Jacksontown United Methodist Church, 9350 Jacksontown Rd, Jacksontown.
