He was predeceased by: his parents, Curtis Odell and Delores Kathaleen Barth Whetzel; his brother Danny Whetzel; and his stepchildren, Wayne O'Neil and Sheri O'Neil.
He is survived by: his wife Carol L. Caldwell Whetzel of Jacobsburg; his sons, Kenny Whetzel (Shelly) of Virginia, Steven Whetzel (Barbara) of Florida and John Woods (Michelle) of Virginia; his stepchildren, Jim O'Neil (Brenda), Sheryl O'Neil and Louise Buerger (Mike); his siblings, Joyce Robertson of Ohio, Jacqueline Herr (Charles) of Virginia, David Whetzel (Kathy) of Virginia, Mary Kathleen Huffstickler of Virginia and Michael Whetzel (Christine) of Virginia; and his grandchildren, Tyler, Jessica, Leah, Maya, Hailey and Maria. He is also survived by 12 step grandchildren and 12 step great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
