He is survived by: his son Jeffrey Thompson; his daughter-in-law Julie Thompson; his grandchildren, Luke, Isabelle, Audrey and Esther; his daughter Karen Rathbun (Thompson); his son-in-law Bob Rathbun; and his grandsons, Jack and Scott.

“I’m sorry for your loss, as it is a loss for many of us who knew him and his antics. JD was a legend! I will never forget being invited to go to Word of Life camp with JD and Jeff. We had stopped at a restaurant to eat breakfast when a couple of little old ladies walked in and as they walked by, JD lowered his voice and said “Hi Mom” to make it look like I said it. JD was laughing, Jeff was under the table and I was in disbelief at the look I got. Love the Thompson family. Tim”
