She was predeceased by: her parents, Samuel Howard and Dora Ethel Yarger (Pollock); her husband Donald J. Thornton; her son Donald Ray Thornton; her children-in-law, Bobbie Jeanne Thornton and Rollin Brewer; her granddaughter Amanda Thornton Morganstern; and her sisters, Sadie Hiser, Annabel Heston, Nellie Pollock, Galina McDowell, Wanda Ruhl and Lucinda Johnson.

She is survived by: her children, Jeffery Thornton (Joyce) of Mansfield, Lori Brewer of Johnsville, Shelley Gall (William) of Crestline and Peggy Wilcox (Stephen) of Lakeview; her sister Francis Pryor of Johnsville; and her daughter-in-law Joanie Dickerson of Johnsville. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
