He was predeceased by: his father Robert Bachtel; and his siblings, Denny Bachtel and Beverly Houck. He is survived by: his sons, Russell "Little Rusty" Vaughn (Lynda), Jim Vaughn (Karen), Troy Vaughn, Kyle Vaughn and Daniel Vaughn; and his siblings, Jim Eigner (Clara), Connie Higgins, Vickie Lansberry (Don), Dale Moore, Judy Wigginton (Marty) and Sam Tassone (Marilyn). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren.
