He was predeceased by: his parents, Vance Markland and Mary Katherine Markland; and his siblings, Rochelle Jones, Bonnie Campbell and Marion Markland.

He is survived by: his children, Jonathan (Jacqueline), Candra Schauer (Kevin), Carl, Robyn (Nicci) and Deana (Anthony Burns); his sisters, Twilla Trease, Glenda Howarth (Ed) and Kathy Jones; and his siblings-in-law, James Campbell and Sandy Markland. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
