He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Virgil and Hannah Marie Gearhart (Evans); the mother of his children Juanita Gearhart (Roush); his son Rob Gearhart; his stepchildren, Tamara Barker, Carolyn Long and Jeffrey Jacobs; his daughters-in-law, Rita Jane Gearhart and Angela Gearhart; and his sisters, Agnes Streitenberger and Norma Hotopp.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia A. Gearhart (Wolford); his children, Carl E. Gearhart Jr., Lois Avery (Ted), Chuck Gearhart (Janet), Rick Gearhart and Peter Gearhart (Marilyn); his stepchildren, Michael Jacobs (Vicki) and Janice Quinn (Hersey); and his stepchildren-in-law, Gary Long and Karen Jacobs. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous other special family members and friends.
