He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Sowards and Maude Distel (Sowards); his wife Carrie F. Sowards; and his sister Mary Etta Beasley of Akron. He is survived by: his children, Verl Sowards (Lisa) of Hudson, Florida, Vanessa Sowards of Sandusky and Victoria Sowards of Port Clinton; his grandchildren, Brad Sowards of Palm Beach and Rebecca Deverso (Mike) of Galena, Ohio; his great grandchildren, Lexie Sowards, Peyton Deverso, Avery Deverso and Marin Deverso; and his sister JoAnn Pertuset of Nashville. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
