We announce the death of Shirley Smith Sims of Lancaster, Ohio, who passed away on September 14, 2026, at the age of 91. Shirley will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Rev. M. Ray Smith and Jean Smith (Mackey); her husband Charles K. Sims; her daughter Laura Lea Sims; and her brother Winston Smith.
She is survived by: her children, Kristin Strong, Karin Howard (Tom) and Nathan Kessler Sims; and her grandchildren, Ian Howard (Andrea), Brenna Habib (Bishoy), Austin Howard, Owyn Howard (Julia), Schyler Strong and Oscar Debolt-Sims. She is also survived by six great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Hager and Cundiff Funeral Home (207 W Oak St, Nicholasville, KY 40356). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Wilmore United Methodist Church, Clark Chapel (209 E Main St, Wilmore, KY 40390).
