He was predeceased by: his father Michael R. Lay of Hillsboro, Ohio.. He is survived by: his mother Erin M. Banta Hensley (Jim) of Lebanon; his sisters, Halle A. and Emma J. Hensley of Harlan, Kentucky.; his grandparents, Michael E. and Donna M. Banta of Lebanon, Ohio.; his aunts, Terah J. Banta of Lebanon and Valerie E. (J. Randolph); his uncle Milo H. (Jennifer Banta); his cousins, Spencer S. Swinehart, Damion M., Seth J., Shelby R. and Simon W. Randolph; and his daughter Daisy June Banta (Gianna M. Lupinetti).
