He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Bess and Maurine Bess; his brothers, David and Stephen Bess; his sisters-in-law, Elaine Bess and Nancy Cook; and his nephew Scott Swann.
He is survived by: his children, Christopher Bess (Lisa) and Cori Royer (Chad); his grandchildren, Alyssa Adams (Jordan), Gavin Greaney (Shannon), Hanna Bogdanovic (Vladimir), Luke Royer and Mary Royer; his great grandchildren, Elliott Greaney, Theodore and Luka Bogdanovic; his sister Jane Glinka (Charles); his siblings-in-law, Sandra Swann (Tony) and Michael Pfenninger (Lisa); and his nieces and nephews, Michael Quinn (Jennifer), Brian Quinn (Michelle), Kevin Swann, Adam Pfenninger (Shelly), Joy Bess and Amanda Cook (Brad).
