He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald and Mary; and his son John Compton. He is survived by: his wife Patti Compton; his son Thomas Compton; his stepsons, Jeff Orth (Lorie) and Jim Orth (Robin); his daughters-in-law, Ann Compton and Krista Lewis; his sister Donna Compton-Smear (John); and his niece Lisa. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.
