He was predeceased by: his parents, Delbert Mayer and Opal Mayer (Shanks); his wife Carolyn Mayer (Dye); his children, Dale Mayer and Theresa Mayer; and his siblings, Helen Hendrickson, John Mayer, Virginia Pennock, Mary Klett, Billy Mayer and Dorothy Nichols.
He is survived by: his children, Jeffrey Mayer (Jodi) of Lima, Vicki Cohn (Barry) of Dayton, Ronald Mayer (Diane Williams) of Lima, Kevin Mayer (Dawn Greenwood) of Lima and Melissa Mayer (Kevin Alves) of Lima; his daughter-in-law Kathryn Hunlock; his siblings, Bette Plaugher, Darlene Miller, Donald Mayer, Jerry Mayer (Natalie) and Waneta Caudill; and his sister-in-law Maxine Mayer. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.
