He was predeceased by: his parents, Russel Ray and Dollie Donnal (Johnson); his wife Dorothy Hughes Mertz Donnal; his daughters, Wanda Hirt and Mary Beth Donnal; his siblings, Pearl Marie Cramer, Mary Martha Kleman (Harold "Bo"), Barbara Jean Ramlow, Dixie Lee Bradley and Alvan Donnal; and his brother-in-law Donald I. Johns Sr..
He is survived by: his children, JoAnna Hirt (James) of Westminster, Vic D. Mertz, Jr. (Nancy) of Harrod, D. Renea Perry (Franklin) of Lima, Edward Donnal of Lima and Russell Donnal of Findlay; his granddaughter Rachel Brady (Shaun); his great grandchild Daniel Hirt; his granddaughter Victoria Hunt; his great grandchildren, James Donnal and Bethany Moore (David); his siblings, Rosetta Mae "Rosie" Johns of Delphos and Russell Lawrence (Gladys) of Lima; Breona Donnal, Samantha Hirt, Alexandra Mertz and Moriah Donnal. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 7th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Monday, December 8th 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services - Shawnee Chapel (1170 Shawnee Rd, Lima, OH 45805). A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 8th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the same location.
