With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Eileen Marie Schafer (Lima, Ohio), whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. She was predeceased by: her parents, Mark Michael and Rita Shortina (Cardone); her husband Robert E. Schafer; her daughter Elizabeth "Liz" Stoll (John); her siblings, Christine Heaphy (Pat) and Jim Shortina (Mandy); and her brother-in-law Paul Mooney.
She is survived by: her daughter Dianne Birum (Tom) of Lima; her grandchildren, Jillian Kearns (Landon) of Cuyahoga Falls and Matthew Birum (Erin) of Columbus; her great grandchildren, Sophia Kearns and Ceci Kearns of Cuyahoga Falls; her stepgreat-granddaughter Lilly Kearns of Medina; and her sister Rosemary Mooney of Lima. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Due to Eileen's struggles with Alzheimer's for the past several years, the family asked that no flowers be sent and memorial contributions be made in her honor to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 North Michigan Avenue, Fl 17, Chicago, Illinois, 60601-7633.
