He was predeceased by: his mother Carol A. Hefner. He is survived by: his father James H. Hefner (Marlene) of Lima; his wife Lara; his sons, Jacob and William; and his sisters, Amy Shepherd (Kelly) and Emily Grone (Michael). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Due to the current public gathering restrictions accompanying the coronavirus pandemic, a private memorial service will be held.
