He was predeceased by: his parents, John L. Sims, Sr. and Martha Lee Sims (Nettles); his siblings, Melvin, James, Ernest, Joe, Roy Sims and Shelly "Shirley" Macklin; and his grandmothers, Grace Chapman and Maggie Nettles (John, Sr.).
He is survived by: his wife Linda Anne Johnson; his daughter Tammy Pelletier of Lima; his grandsons, Troy L. Pelletier, Sr. and Robert "Scooter" Thompson, Jr.; his great grandchildren, Troy L. Pelletier, Jr., Trezur L. Pelletier, Tionna Pelletier, Tripp Pelletier, Mesiah Thompson, Braylen Thompson, Tristan Pelletier and Sania Thompson; his sisters, Ruby Sims of Lima, Armin Petty (Charles) of Lima, Betty Sims of Lima and Carolyn Sims of Lima; his stepbrother Tony Long of Columbus; and his aunts, Lucille Nettles Jones of Saginaw, MI, Betty Williams (Johnny) of Saginaw, MI and R. D. "Boney" Nettles of Saginaw, MI. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
