She was predeceased by: her parents, Wayne Schumacher and Catherine Schumacher (Neill); her son Gregory Alan Joseph; and her niece Emily Hefner. She is survived by: her husband Alan Joseph; her daughters, Jennifer Bingham (John) of LaFayette and Jenelle Laing (Jon) of LaFayette; her grandchildren, Caleb Bingham (Alli), Lauren Bonifas (Kasey), E. J. Laing (Tessa) and Eliza Boggs (Mark); her great grandchildren, Noah, Cara Joy, Evelyn, Hazel Jo and Bobby; and her sisters, Martha Hefner (Charles) of LaFayette and Lynn Fischbeck (John) of Melbourne, FL. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Karen and Alan were known for her piano selections on Facebook during Covid, when many people anxiously awaited their nightly visits with "Words From Alan" and to see Grady the cat.
