He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth "Ken" Hilyard and Mary "Opal" Hilyard (Hardesty); and his siblings, Sherridan Thompson (Stewart), Walter "Dean" Hilyard and Cloyd Hilyard (Eco).
He is survived by: his wife Linda Hilyard (Norbeck); his daughters, Lee Fogt (Jeremy) of Yorktown, VA, Lori Otto (Dale) of Vaughnsville, OH and Lana Altenbach (Steve) of Lima; and his brother Robert "Bob" Hilyard of Lima. He is also survived by eight grandsons; two granddaughters; three great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter.
