He was predeceased by : his parents, Plums Yates and Clytee Rose Yates; his daughters, Beverly Rene Yates and Marshal Dunbar; and his grandchild Kia Yates.

He is survived by : his siblings, Irene Willis of California, Lenora Yates of California, Agnes Yates of California, Frankie Yates, Fannie Lee Johnson, L. W. Yates, Annie Ruth Yates, Lum Ross, Jack Yates and Robert Earl Yates. He is also survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 16th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Chapel of Jones-Clark Funeral Home, Inc. (1302 Oakland Pkwy, Lima, OH 45805). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 16th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
