Rex W. Cramer Obituary

Rex W. Cramer, 67, of Lima, OH passed away at 3:07 p.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2023 surrounded by his family at St. Rita's Medical Center.

Rex was born on April 20, 1955 in St. Mary's to the late Frank W. and Dixie L. (Cotterman) Cramer. He grew up in St. Mary's and graduated from St. Mary's Memorial High School in 1973. A few years later, Rex was united in marriage to the love of his life, Denise Gehr, on July 24, 1976. He was employed as an auto worker with Toledo Mold and Die (Grammar) until his retirement in March of 2022.

Rex was a member of the F and AM Acadia Lodge #306 in Spencerville and local UAW #2279. He was very proud to have been a past president for the local UAW #2279. Some of the numerous joys in his life was his Corvette, working outside, fishing, listening to music, cooking, pepsi, and old westerns, especially "Pure Country" and anything involving John Wayne. Rex had many friends from the Amish Community. He had a deep appreciation for their culture, work ethic and way of life. One of his greatest passions were his horses and ponies. It started with his first horse Buck, then came the Cramer Bro. Pony Farm, to him having a pasture of 40+ horses/ponies. He enjoyed all things horses, from horse shows, to sales, and rodeos. He loved visiting and good conversations with friends and family but most of all loved the time he got to spend with his grandkids. Rex was very intelligent and gave some of the best advice. He also had a great sense of humor and was always wanting to know what was for dinner and when they were going to eat.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Denise Cramer; two daughters, Lynn (Benjamin) Schiffler and Rebecca (Joseph) Hoover both of Lima; son-in-law, Brad Miller of Kalida; eight grandchildren, Taylor (Abbi Clay) Schiffler, Payton Johns, Mikynna Johns, Memphis Schiffler, Avery Miller, Harrison Miller, Presley Hoover, and Kingstyn Hoover; eight siblings, Doug (Elaine) Cramer of St. Mary's, Robin Scheer of St. Mary's, Lisa (Chris) Bontjes of St. Mary's, Fawn (Paul) Sturwold of St. Mary's, Jake (Becky) Cramer of St. Mary's, Brent (Stacie) Cramer of Gainesville, FL, Dawn (Dane) Thrush of St. Mary's and Ryan Cramer of Wapakoneta; and many nieces & nephews. Rex was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Kelly Miller, brother-in-law, Brad Scheer and five infant siblings.

There will be a gathering of family and friends from 2:00-7:00 p.m. followed by his memorial service at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville.
