He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Appleton and Mildred Appleton Sr. (Morell); his siblings, Virgil Appleton, Jr. and Faith Voila (Harry); and his brother-in-law Wilton Wager.
He is survived by: his wife Catherine "Cathy" Appleton (Burden) of Lima; his children, Melissa Wheeler (Andy) of Morral and Mark Appleton (Stacy) of Newark; his grandchildren, Kathleen Coleman (Andrew), Kyle Carmichael (Maggie) and Max Appleton (Kaitlyn); his sister Diane Wager; and his sister-in-law Juanita Appleton. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
