He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Shafer and Beda Goodwin Shafer; his wife Judy Geren; and his siblings, Ronald Shafer, James Shafer and JoAnn Reese.
He is survived by: his children, Paul Shafer (Dawn) of Ada, Ohio and Rebecca Smith (David) of Lima; his stepsons, Todd Geren (Jennifer) of Port St and Brian Geren of New Bremen, Ohio; his grandchildren, Jacob Shafer and Kylie Shafer; his stepgrandchildren, Arielle (Jay), Taylor Rosa (Chris), Ciann Geren, Ian Geren and Brianna Geren; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Maya and Beau.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Bayliff & Son Funeral Home (311 W Main St, Cridersville, OH 45806). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
Memorial contributions may be given to Deb's Dogs or a charity of the donor's choice.
