He was predeceased by: his parents, Delbert Eugene "Gene" Merckle and Maxine Merckle (Straits); and his brother Mark. He is survived by: his daughter Heather Merckle; his sister-in-law Darlene; his nephew Delbert "Bert" Merckle (Yolanda); his niece Sara Merckle; and his cousin Susannah Fisher.
