Anna Mae Borsos Obituary
Anna Mae (nee Gajdos) Borsos, 85, of Lorain, passed away peacefully in her sleep after a brief illness on September 19, 2025 at Kingston of Vermilion. Born on May 1, 1940, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. She moved from Duquesne, Pennsylvania and to Lorain in 1942. Anna Mae was the daughter of Julius and Bessie (nee Sopko) Gajdos. She graduated from Lorain High in 1959-A and worked at Pick & Pay for several years and for the Naples family at City Bar later in life. Anna Mae was a school volunteer and a member of Saint Francis Xavier Cabrini Church. She found joy in cooking and baking Hungarian dishes, ceramics, and cherished the time spent with her beloved grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Janda (Robert Page) of Lorain, and Annette Kunakowsky (Victor) of Amherst with whom she resided with and were her caregivers for the last 7 years; her grandchildren, William Janda Jr. (Alyssa Pranckunas), Jamie Janda, Steven Arellanes, Joseph Arellanes (Destiny Monroy), Andrei Kunakowsky, great granddaughter Violet Mae Arellanes, and sister, Barbara (Archie-deceased) Delis. Anna Mae was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Daniel Borsos in 2008; daughter, Lisa Borsos in 2015; parents, Julius and Bessie (Sopko) Gajdos and her brothers, Julius Gajdos (June) and Thomas Gajdos.
Friends are invited to St. Francis Xavier Cabrini Parish, 2143 Homewood Drive, Lorain for visitation on Thursday, September 25, 2025 from 9am until 10am Mass of Christian burial. Rev. Father, Neil Walters, Pastor will officiate. Her burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. A luncheon will be held at noon at Sugarcreek Restaurant, 5196 Detroit Road, Sheffield.
The family would like to thank Anna Mae's longtime aide, Sherlie Ortiz, for caring for her for the last several years of her life. Also, her childhood friends for 80 years, Vivien Ottney and Janice Monos for your visits and phone calls.
