Doris Jiminez Obituary

Doris Jimenez, 77, of Lorain, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and woman of deep faith, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born on June 10, 1949, in Utuado, Puerto Rico, to Juan and Carmen Vélez. One of seven children.

She is lovingly remembered by her companion Daniel Rodriguez; sister, Ana Vélez; her brothers, John Vélez (Elba) and Hector Vélez (Frances); her children, Orquidia Carrion (Reynaldo), Rafael Jimenez Jr., and Marilyn Laboy; her five cherished grandchildren, Reynaldo Jr., Alexis, Valentino, Victoria, and Rafael III; as well as her six great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride.

Other than her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Rafael Jimenez in 2003; and her siblings, Angel Vélez, Judy Martinez, and Maria Vélez Santiago.

Doris retired from Maria Gardens as a Shipping Supervisor after 30 years of dedicated service. During her tenure, she built lasting friendships and took great pride in her work, especially caring for plants and flowers. In retirement, she found happiness tending to her garden, sewing, and, above all, spending time with her family. Her love for her family was boundless, and nothing brought her greater joy than being in their presence.

Doris was a woman whose heart was always larger than her own needs. She lived a life defined by selflessness, consistently placing others before herself and offering kindness, comfort, and love without expecting anything in return. Her gentle spirit touched all who knew her, and her presence brought warmth and peace wherever she went.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, on Sunday, June 28, 2026, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain, OH 44055, on Monday, June 29, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. until the 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Rev. Father Alexander C. Spenik, Pastor. Interment will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst.

Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure. She is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
