Elsie Olga Alvarado, 96 of Lorain, passed away Monday June 29, 2026 at home, following a lengthy illness.
She was born October 5, 1929 in Caguas Puerto Rico. She came to Lorain in 1960, and has lived here since.
Elsie was a homemaker. She loved gardening, cooking and taking care of everyone. She was an animal lover.
Surviving is her son, Angel L. Alvarado, of Lorain, daughters Aixa (Ron) Thompson of Lorain, and Myrna (Robert Thompson) Alvarado of Bucyrus; grandchildren, Adam, Jessica, and Nicole Alvarado, Desiree (Bert) Mole and Heather Dunlap. Several great grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Efrain (Marian) Maldonado of Puerto Rico. And her very beloved fur buddy, Blondie.
She was preceded in death by her husband Angel Luis in 2016, father, Genaro Maldonado, mother, Ernestina Rivera, brother, Osvaldo Maldonado, her sister Elsa Maldonado and her beloved grandson, Jeremy Alvarado.
Her family will receive friends at the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, Tuesday, July 7, 2026 from 4 to 8 PM., and Wednesday, July 8, from 9 until time of her funeral service at 10 AM. Rev. Father Alexander C. Spenik, pastor of Sacred Heart Chapel will officiate. Her burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
