He was predeceased by: his mother Eunice Hurst; his son Ephron R. Hurst, Jr.; his parent Othafus Hurst, Sr.; his siblings, Othafus Jr., David, Lonnie Hurst and Corinne Singleton; his uncle Rufus Hurst; and his cousins, Bessie Daniels and Rose Newkirk.
He is survived by: his wife JoAnne Hurst; his daughters, Wendy Cummings, Joyce Akins (Donald) and Sonya Lee Brown (Carlos); and his sisters, Jestean Johnson and Louise Hurst. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
