Francisca Aponte Saez Obituary
Francisca "Sica" Aponte-Saez (nee Sanabría), 92 of Lorain, passed away in her home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, February 16, 2026. Francisca was born on October 4, 1933, in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico.
Francisca moved to Lorain in 1953. Since then, she has created an impactful legacy here in Lorain and has touched the hearts of so many. Francisca worked at International Plaza, where she served as a cook for the senior citizens. She also had her successful business, selling the best sofrito in Lorain. Francisca loved to cook for her family, tend to her garden and her flowers, watching her favorite TV shows with her daughter Maria, and doing puzzles. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Chapel, where she made her curcillos. Francisca had a smile and a laugh that lit up the room, and she was a mother and grandmother to anyone who walked through her door.
She is survived by her sons, Marcelino (Lucy) Aponte, Hector (Debbie) Aponte; her daughters, Gladys (Hector) Burgos, and Ana "Nina" Aponte-Rios; her granddaughters/ daughters Dana A. Cintron, and Lisa M. Tymchuck; her grandson/son Anthony Vasquez; and so many grandchildren she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Martín Saez, her daughter Maria L. Ramos, and her great-granddaughter Sophia M. Vasquez.
The family will receive friends and loved ones of Francisca at Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, Lorain, Ohio, on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. Francisca's mass will be held at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain, Ohio, on Saturday, February 21 at 10:00 a.m. and Rev. Father Alexander C. Spenik, Pastor will officiate. Her burial will follow at Cavalry Cemetery, Lorain, Ohio.
