Germaine Guillermina Morales Obituary
Guillermina "Germaine" Morales entered into the presence of the Lord on Saturday, October 18th, 2025 under hospice care following a brief illness. She was born on November 12, 1941, to Vincent and Aurora (Leyva) Torres in Lorain, Ohio where she then resided until the time of her death. Throughout her life, Germaine worked for the St. Joseph, Community and Mercy Hospitals for over 50 years. She started her career running the daycare for the doctors and staff of St. Joe's. However, as Germaine would tell everyone she met, she did it all at one time or another and was always proud to serve wherever she was needed. Much of her career was spent with the amazing women and doctors in the mammography department at Mercy Hospital. Even after her retirement, Germaine would volunteer at the department, especially as a translator for the Hispanic community and traveling to various events as an advocate for women's health.
Germaine was also a faithful servant of the Lord as a member of Lorain's Sacred Heart Chapel. She was an active member of La Sociedad de Guadalupe (the Guadalupe Society) where she could always be found in the kitchen at the monthly bake sales with her fellow members, the church festival booth every summer and faithfully lead their monthly rosary. Her sense of pride could be found in her love for her Mexican-American heritage and she did so through her membership with Mexican American Citizens Club. She was known as the historian amongst her family and friends because her stories of the people of the community, the booming steel mill and the "good old days". She could go on and on. Germaine lived a very full life surrounded by many family members and friends who became like family. She was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and would make a point to brag about their many accomplishments to her friends as she would visit them.
Germaine is survived by her sons, Vincent (Amy) Morales and Gregory (Jessica) Loera, daughter-in-law Sylvia Morales, grandchildren, Carla (Adrean) Colon, Angelique Hernandez, Vincent Morales, and Karis Morales, and great-grandchildren- Giovanni Wilson and Mayeli Colon: siblings Margarita Pastrana, Aracelis Wertz, Guadalupe Torres and Stella Cruz and many nieces and nephews. Germaine was preceded in death by her parents, children Angel Morales, and Irma Morales and a sister Jovita Coronado. Her family will receive friends at the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, Ohio 44055, Thursday, October 23, 2025 from 4 to 8pm. Then at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44055 on Friday, October 24, from 8:30 until 9:30am Mass of Christian Burial. Rev. Father Alexander C. Spenik, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
