Hortensia Crespo Obituary

Hortensia Crespo passed away peacefully at Life New Hospice, Lorain, Saturday, August 2, 2025.

Hortensia was born March 5, 1933, in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico to parents, Damiana Sanchez and Bartolo Ramos and was one of 10 children. She married the love of her life, Mario Crespo, on February 11, 1955, in Youngstown, Ohio.

Hortensia was deeply loved and will be missed and remembered by her children, Mario Crespo, Anna Iris Martinez (Jose) and Evelyn Ramirez (Julio); grandchildren, Tito Crespo (Christina), Angel Cruz (Fatima), Amy Cruz, Julio Ramirez Jr. (Sasha), Maritza Ruiz (Antonio), Mario Ramirez (Vanessa), Angel Marie Crespo, Michelle Martinez, Jose Martinez Jr. (Tara), Jaida Martinez, Jalisa Martinez, Renee Martinez, Luis Martinez and Melissa Martinez; 34 great grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren. She will also be greatly missed by her lifelong friends Gladys Velazquez, Nercy Santana, Ruth Medina (Paco) and special family members, Betsy and Benito Velazquez.

Hortensia was preceded in death by her parents, son Jimmy Crespo, great granddaughter Melina Martinez and 7 siblings.

We are eternally grateful for the love, care and support our mother received from the staff at the Cleveland Clinic, Avon Oaks Nursing Home, Avon, Ohio and Mercy Life Hospice. Also, we want to thank her sons in law, Jose Martinez and Julio Ramirez Sr., who were caregivers throughout her illness, also friends Rosie Garcia, Rosa (Cusa) Navarro, Jalexis Robles, Milagros Morales, Vilma Ramos for their loving support and care.

Her family will receive friends at Saint Dominic Catholic Parish, 77 East Lucius Ave, Youngstown, Ohio 44507, Monday, August 11, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:15 a.m. followed by interment at Lake Park Cemetery, 1459 East Midlothian Blvd, Youngstown.
