He was predeceased by : his parents, David Merlin and Eula Mae Thomas (Bocage); his wife Rebecca Ann Tyler (Becky); and his siblings, Terry Thomas, Betsy Payton (Elfrid), Melva Roy (Roland) and Gwendolyn Judy Thomas.

He is survived by : his nephew David Thomas III; his siblings, David Thomas II (Holly), Elton Thomas (Katherine) and Sherry Thomas-Cloud (Tim); his sister-in-law Michelle Thomas; his children, Jennifer Thomas-Powell (Marcus) and James Thomas (Heather); his grandchildren, Everett Powell, Mercedes Thomas, Mahogany Powell, Maximus Powell, Jairus Thomas, Jaelle Thomas, Gianna Thomas and Zemira Thomas; and his great grandchild Inez-Mae Thomas. He is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jim's name may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or Parkinson's Foundation.
