He was predeceased by: his parents, John Joseph Castañeda, Sr. and Martha Castañeda; his siblings, Virginia and Raymond; his son Ramon; and his wife Frances Onell Castañeda.
He is survived by: his children, John and Debra Gaines. He is also survived by his children and a host of cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was also instrumental in helping build the girls' dormitory at Pine Forge Academy in Pine Forge, Pennsylvania, leaving a lasting contribution to the school community and reflecting his commitment to education and service.
