Jose Ramon Cepeda Obituary
Jose Ramon Cepeda, 71 of Lorain passed away in his home June 3, 2026, after a lengthy illness. He was born on November 26, 1954, in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico and moved to Jersey City, New jersey in infancy and to Lorain in 1966. Jose returned from Daytona, Florida in 2019 after working in California. He was a decorated veteran and served in United States Navy on the USS Hancock CVA 19. Jose was an avid sports fan and enjoyed the outdoors and loved spending time with friends and family.
He is survived by his children Jose Cepeda and Briana De La Mater; mother Illuminada Cruz (nee Ramos); brothers Elvin Cruz, Jerry Cruz, and Michael Cruz, and 5 grandchildren.
Jose was preceded in death by his father Ramon Cepeda; brother Angel Cepeda and a sister Diana Cepeda.
His family will at Sacred Heart Chapel, 3401 Pearl Avenue, Lorain, Wednesday, June 24, 2026, prior to Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM. Rev. Father Alexander C. Spenik, Pastor will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by the AMVETS Post 32 of Elyria. His cremated remains will be placed at The Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.
